Meet Carlie Spotten

Dobyns-Bennett High School Junior Leads with Compassion and Purpose

When a fellow student broke his glasses, Carlie Spotten stepped in without hesitation. She helped him repair them, then went a step further by helping him figure out how to obtain another pair. No one needed to ask her to help. She saw a need and took action—a simple moment that speaks volumes about her character.

That willingness to support others is one reason Carlie, a junior at Dobyns-Bennett High School and a member of the Class of 2028, has been named JAG Student of the Month. Her leadership and strong work ethic make her a valued part of the program.

As DB JAG President, Carlie takes an active role in helping her classmates succeed. She is also a key leader in the student-run JAG Supply Store, where students gain hands-on experience producing and selling dirty sodas, custom air fresheners, ornaments, and embroidered wristlet key fobs. Carlie helps lead production, keeps the class organized, and works to distribute responsibilities fairly so everyone has an opportunity to contribute.

Her approach to leadership combines getting the work done with caring about the people doing it. Whether she is coordinating a project or helping a classmate through an unexpected problem, Carlie demonstrates dependability, compassion, and a commitment to including others.

Looking ahead, Carlie is exploring careers as a firefighter or 911 operator. Both paths reflect the desire to serve her community that she already puts into practice at school.

Through her everyday actions, Carlie shows how much thoughtful, consistent leadership can matter. She is making a positive impact on the Dobyns-Bennett JAG program and setting an example of what it means to help others succeed.
